6 hard-to-find cars, alternatives
Sometimes in the car-buying process, you have to decide whether to keep looking for the perfect car, or go ahead and settle down with the best option available. If you're having a particularly tough time finding that ideal auto right now, you're not alone. Conditions on both the supply and demand ends of the auto market are making some vehicles tough to get a hold of.
Is a hybrid car a luxury item?
Not all hybrid cars are created equal. Some deliver genuine benefits to the environment and consumers, while others are just pricey options that allow automakers to cash in on those five green little letters. This week the Union of Concerned Scientists unveiled its 2011 Hybrid Scorecard to help consumers tell the difference. The Scorecard rates hybrid car models on a number of different criteria, including environmental benefits over standard models and bang for the buck.
Buy a car, get auto insurance free
Hate paying auto insurance premiums? Washington and Oregon residents may get a break from doing just that if they buy a General Motors car this summer. According to the terms of a new insurance promotion being offered by the Detroit automaker and insurance provider MetLife Auto & Home, Washington and Oregon car buyers will receive a year of prepaid auto insurance with their purchase of any 2010, 2011 or 2012 Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick or GMC car. The offer is valid for drivers who take delivery of the aforementioned new cars between July 6 and September 6.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows two compatible devices to communicate. In the car, it lets you operate a mobile phone "hands-free," meaning you don't have to hold the device while making or taking a call or performing such functions as accessing the phone's address book. (Of course, you have to use your hands to operate certain Bluetooth features via the vehicle's controls.)
