Used Car Loans / Nissan recalls 46,000 Cubes
Nissan has issued a recall for 46,000 of its Cube hatchbacks because fuel could potentially spill after rear-end collisions.
The Japanese automaker said that recent tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Authority (NHTSA) showed that the Cubes spilled more fuel than federal standards allow during rear-crash tests in which the vehicle also spun around, reports the Associated Press. The recall involves 2009 and 2010 model year Cubes that were made between January 30, 2009 and July 30.
Nissan said that it did not find the problem that the NHTSA identified in its own testing, but it decided to issue a voluntary recall, reports the news source.
Sales of the Cube have been stronger this year than last, with 15,530 of the vehicles being sold through June of this year, representing a 300 percent increase over last year.
