No Credit Car Loans / GM works to find m.p.g. figure for Chevy Volt
It was once thought that General Motors’ new electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt, would travel an astounding 230 miles per gallon, but those estimations are incorrect.GM came to the 230 m.p.g. figure by using a government formula that never received approval, according to USA Today. The federal government is currently working on a new method to calculate the fuel efficiency of electric and hybrid vehicles.
The carmaker is unsure of what the Volt’s m.p.g. figure will ultimately be.
"We just don’t know right now,” Micky Bly, executive director of global electrical systems for GM, said of the vehicle’s rating.
Currently, there is no universally accepted way to let consumers know how the energy usage of electric cars compares with traditional vehicles.
"We’ve been working collaboratively with the EPA and the industry to come up with a number that gives our customers something they can feel comfortable with," Tom Stephens, GM’s vice chairman of global product operations, told the news source.
Whether or not one decides to buy a Chevrolet Volt when they hit showrooms, he or she may want to go to an online third party lender to get a car loan as these businesses can allow drivers to avoid the hassle of auto financing at the dealership.
