Car Finance / Chevrolet Volt to cost $41,000![]() Drivers who were hoping to get behind the wheel of General Motors’ new Chevrolet Volt will have to pay $41,000 to do so. Fortunately that price will be offset for most buyers by the $7,500 tax credit they receive for buying an electric car. Motorists can also take out what the Detroit Free Press calls “an aggressive lease” on the electric vehicle, for three years at $2,500 down and $350 a month. “Remember we’re in the post- bank crash world,” Jim Hall of 2952 Analytics, told the Detroit Free Press. “Just because someone can afford the monthly payment doesn’t mean they will qualify to lease a $41,000 vehicle.” The standard version of the Volt, the one that will be sold for $41,000, includes eight air bags, five years of OnStar and a 120-volt charge cord, according to the news source. A premium package, which includes leather seats, graphics on the doors and a higher grade paint is also being offered by GM. The Volt’s main competition will likely be the Nissan Leaf, which starts at $32,780. Whether or not one decides to buy an electric vehicle, he or she should visit an online direct to consumer auto finance provider when looking for a car loan, as some of these businesses offer competitive rates. |
