Car Finance / Ford to revamp Super Duty engine
Those who buy a Ford Super Duty truck in the near future will have more power under the hood than ever before, as the automaker said that the vehicles will feature a retuned engine.
According to Ford, the new Super Duty engines will offer 65 more pound-feet of torque and 10 more horsepower, reports the Detroit Free Press. Production of the new engines will begin shortly, the carmaker said.
The Ford trucks led their class in engine power as recently as April, but then General Motors announced that the 2011 models of the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado would outpace Ford’s offering.
Ford Chief Engineer Chris Brewer told the news source that while the car company had been working on a new engine, the decision to boost the performance numbers was in part a response to GM’s announcement.
“The good news is the customer wins….because we are going to come out with more product improvements,” he said.

Sales of Ford vehicles increased 13.3 percent in June compared to the same month last year, and the gain was largely spurred by a strong showing by the carmaker’s Super Duty pickup trucks.
