Car Finance / Americans still have doubts about electric cars![]() A lot of ink has been dedicated to the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf over the past few months, but the reality is that many drivers still have lingering doubts about the vehicles, according to a new poll by USA Today and Gallup. The poll found that 57 percent of drivers would not drive an electric vehicle no matter how high gas prices go. The cars have seen a small uptick in interest as of late while fuel prices continue to climb, but the research data reveals that there's a very hard ceiling on how high electric vehicle interest can rise at this time. Edmunds CEO Jeremy Anwyl told the news source that electric vehicles "find acceptance among a core group of passionistas, but too many questions remain for mainstream consumers." Examples of reservations that many drivers cite are charging times, battery replacement costs and the vehicles' range. In addition, the cars can be quite expensive, even after the $7,500 federal tax credit. Drivers looking to save money might be better served by considering auto loan refinancing. This easy-to-apply process isn't as radical as dropping $30,000 + on a new electric car, but you'll still be able to lower your monthly payments. The extra cash on hand might take the sting out of high prices at the pump while allowing you to keep your current vehicle. |

In the car, it lets you operate a mobile phone "hands-free," meaning you don't have to hold the device while making or taking a call or performing such functions as accessing the phone's address book. (Of course, you have to use your hands to operate certain Bluetooth features via the vehicle's controls.) ![]() Automotive sound systems are more complex now that portable media players, hard-disk drives and smartphones are along for the ride. But the basic radio/speaker setup hasn't drastically changed, even though more speakers and more amplifier power have been added over the years.
