Car Finance / Honda aces Report Card![]() Honda has once again topped the Consumer Reports Annual Automakers Report Card, a yearly study that compiles data on each automaker's fleet and ranks them accordingly. The Japanese automaker scored a 74 overall, narrowly beating out Subaru, which came in second with a 73. Consumer Guides determines the scores of each automaker by examining each car and rating it across more than 50 data points. It also collects reliability statistics based on customer surveys that were released late last year. The report also meant some good news for previously beleaguered companies. Toyota seems to have recovered from the recall scandal nicely, with a ranking of third and score of 71. Volvo, which was sold by Ford to China's Geely Corp, came in fourth overall with a 68, the only Europe-based automaker to crack the top five. Ford itself was named as the most improved manufacturer, with a fifth-place spot and a 67 overall. Automakers not performing well in the survey included Chrysler, in dead last with a score of 43; General Motors in next-to-last at 56; and Mercedes, which was the only automaker to drop from last year's statistics in both overall score and reliability. Drivers interested in any of these brands may want to seek out an online third-party provider of auto financing, which can help them secure a car loan regardless of their credit history. |

In the car, it lets you operate a mobile phone "hands-free," meaning you don't have to hold the device while making or taking a call or performing such functions as accessing the phone's address book. (Of course, you have to use your hands to operate certain Bluetooth features via the vehicle's controls.) ![]() Automotive sound systems are more complex now that portable media players, hard-disk drives and smartphones are along for the ride. But the basic radio/speaker setup hasn't drastically changed, even though more speakers and more amplifier power have been added over the years.
