Bad Credit Car Loans / How to Get Student Auto Loans with Bad Credit![]() Student auto loans may seem to be tough to grab if one has bad credit. It can be easy for college students to damage their credit score. Predatory credit card companies target financially illiterate college students by having them sign up for credit cards that they do not know how to use responsibly. It is not unusual for college students to emerge from school with thousands of dollars in credit card debt in addition to their student loans. When you carry an unserviceable amount of debt, your credit rating is negatively affected. Having a bad credit rating can keep you from getting the auto loan you need to purchase an automobile. Sometimes, having no credit history can be just as bad as having a troubled financial history. Even if you have bad credit, car loan options are available. Step 1: Check Your Credit Rating The first thing you should do is check your credit score. In order to get your numerical credit rating, you will need to purchase your credit report from an agency. You should, however, look at your free credit report as well. Make sure that there are no errors about your credit history that could damage your rating. If your credit rating is good, above 600, go ahead and apply for any loans you need. If your credit score is below that, however, you might need to work on building a positive credit score. Step 2: Improve Your Credit Score You can improve your credit score by making monthly payments on time or early. Unfortunately, building up your credit score takes time. If you need a vehicle now, this option might not be a practical solution for your problem. Step 3: Save Up To Buy Your New Car If you do have time before you need to buy a car, you could try and save money so that you could purchase the car outright. This will save you in financial charges. Again, most individuals need a vehicle to get to work, and must obtain financing in order to afford transportation. Step 4: Use a Co-Signer If you have bad credit, the easiest way to get first time car loans is to use a co-signer. Your co-signer will agree to pay back the loan if you fail to make payments on your car. This is a big commitment to make. You should be certain that you can afford your monthly payments before you ask someone to be your co-signer. Choose a co-signer who has good credit. That way, you will get the best possible rate. If you need a car loan with no credit required, you can work on building your credit score first or save up to buy your car outright. However, the quickest and most practical way to get a car loan if you have bad credit is to use a cosigner. A co-signer can help you get the car loan you need. By paying back that loan on time, the next time you need financing, you will not need a co-signer |
